Power is not reserved for people with impressive titles. In Exodus, midwives, a mother, a young girl, and Pharaoh’s own daughter use the power available to them to protect life and resist oppression. Jesus also entrusts ordinary disciples with the courage to recognize and speak the truth. As we celebrate the beginning of Sunday School and bless our students, teachers, and backpacks, we’ll consider how every generation can use its gifts and influence for God’s life-giving purposes.
